Connecting for social good

In this project, we designed a website for Akbank's Şehrin İyi Hali youth volunteering initiative. This platform connects university students across Turkiye with impactful social responsibility opportunities, created in partnership with various non-governmental organizations. Aiming to encourage participation, it underscores Akbank's commitment to fostering social good.

BACKGROUND

From brief to participation

We collaborated with Akbank's Digital Marketing Team for the project. Following the project brief and prior research, we created a platform that showcases social responsibility opportunities while easing the application process for potential volunteers.

What I did

As the sole UX designer on this project, I led the experience design process for the new website, using existing research to guide my work.

 

I created high-fidelity wireframes for desktop and mobile screens, ensuring a seamless and user-centered experience across devices.

Challenges

One of the main challenges was crafting a design that appealed to the diverse interests of young volunteers while providing clear navigation for activity details, application steps, and organizational partnerships.

 

Balancing these varying informational needs required careful structuring to ensure each element was easy to access and encouraged ongoing engagement.

Simplifying the process with quick onboarding

The quick application card on the homepage provides a smooth way to begin the journey. By simply selecting a city and preferred activity, users are guided directly to relevant form pages, making the process both accessible and efficient. This structure also encourages immediate engagement with the program.

Providing insights during application

The application form pages provide essential details about the organization and the specific program users are interested in. These pages offer a clear understanding of the program’s objectives and the organization’s role, making it easy to make informed decisions before applying.

Following up on updates with the calendar

The calendar option offers an easy way to track and follow up on applied programs. It allows individuals to mark important dates related to their applications, helping them stay organized and informed about upcoming steps. 

CONCLUSION

Final thoughts

Working on this project was a valuable experience. Designing a platform that connects university students with impactful social responsibility projects challenged me to create engaging and intuitive solutions. I'm proud of the work we did to encourage participation in these initiatives and excited to apply the insights gained to future projects.
